“Oh what do I wear? What do I wear?” Sweet panicked as she rummaged through the small amount of clothing she owned. She tossed one outfit after another using her magic, groaning in the process. “Oh I can't find the perfect outfit!”

“Sweetie, is everything ok up here?” her mother, Fluttershy, asked as she walked into the bedroom that she shared, with her younger daughter. “I heard things falling to the ground.”

“It's ok, Mama, but I can't find a single thing to wear for the prom tonight! Why didn't I ask Rarity to make me something?” Sweet panicked. “I wanna look perfect for Skies tonight and I have nothing to wear!”

Fluttershy giggled slightly. “I'm sure you have something very pretty to wear. Let me see what you have to wear.”

Fluttershy walked over to the pile of clothes that Sweet had created and gently picked them up with her wings and laid them all out side by side in a neat fashion. She looked at the dresses that were laid out before her attention went to a light blue dress. “How about this one, Sweetie? I don't think you wore this one for him yet.”

Sweet walked over to the bed and looked down at the dress her mother was talking about. It was a light blue dress that would reach all the way to the ground. It was sleeveless but it looked very elegant. “Are you sure he would like something like this, Mama. This is prom and I wanna look so pretty for him.”

“I think you would look lovely in this. I bet if you wore some pretty silver bracelets and put your hair up, you would look so pretty.” smiled Fluttershy. “And I know Blue Skies would love you.”

“Do you really think so, Mama?” asked Sweet.

“I know so. I may have not had a colt-friend for awhile but I know he would love to see you all dressed up. It would make you look lovely. But, you don't have to get all dressed up if you don't want to now. That's your choice.” smiled Fluttershy.

“I think I will wear this dress, Mama.” Sweet smiled. “Will you help me put up my mane?”

“I'd love too, Sweetie.” Fluttershy smiled at her daughter as she grabbed a nearby brush using her wing. “You go put on that dress and then I'll fix up your hair.”

Sweet walked into the nearby bathroom and slowly, using her magic, levitated the dress up into the air and began to dress herself, making sure not to ruin the dress in anyway. Getting her head and forehooves through the openings, Sweet used her magic to gently fluff out the dress in the back so it would look more elegant.

Sweet looked at herself in the mirror, now wearing the light blue dress on herself. She really did look very beautiful, and Blue Skies was sure to think the same thing. Sweet walked out of the bathroom and stood in the doorway so Fluttershy could get a good look at her.

“Oh you look very pretty, Sweetie.” Fluttershy smiled at her daughter. “Blue Skies is going to love you in that dress, it suits you very well.”

“I hope it does. I wanna look my best for Skies.” Sweet said as she walked over to the bed and sat herself down.  

Fluttershy, holding the brush with her right wing, sat herself down next to Sweet as she began to brush her daughter's mane. “I know you do and you shall. Now, how do you want your mane? In a ponytail or up in a bun? Or something else?”

Sweet smiled as Fluttershy said the word bun. “I wanna have my hair up in a bun, Mama. I never have my hair up, so it would be different.”

“You do look very pretty when you have your hair up. But you look pretty no matter what.” Fluttershy smiled as she gathered up Sweet's hair up with her other wing and was starting to push it up. “Could you give Mama a pin, Sweetie?”

Sweet used her magic to levitate a box of bobby pins all the way from the bathroom and brought them over to her mother. Fluttershy placed the brush down and quickly used her wing to grab a few pins from the box. “Now hold still.” Fluttershy said as she placed some of the pins in her mouth and began to place them in the right places in Sweet's hair.

A few minutes later, Fluttershy put in the last bobby pin and grabbed the brush again to pull back any strands of hair that might have gotten away from her. “There. I think that should do it, Sweetie. Why don't you go look in the mirror?”

Sweet got off of the bed and walked back into the bathroom to see the new hairstyle her mother had done. As she saw herself in the mirror, she let out a gasp. Fluttershy had been right, she really did look really pretty with her hair up. Sweet placed one of her hooves on her hair and gently patted it to make sure it was all secure and in place.

Sweet walked out of the bathroom to see Fluttershy getting herself into the dress she had worn for the Grand Galloping Gala a few years back. “Are you excited for the prom, Mama?”

“I am very excited.” Fluttershy smiled. “A bit nervous, but that's ok.”

“I can't believe your going with Big Mac. He seems like a very nice stallion.” Sweet smiled. “It was nice of him to ask you, Mama.”

Fluttershy blushed sightly as she grabbed the brush and walked past Sweet into the bathroom to fix up her hair for the prom. “He is a very sweet stallion, Sweetie. He's so shy, I thought he wouldn't even be attending prom, let alone asking me.”

“You deserve to go to prom, Mama. You're so pretty.” Sweet smiled.

“Oh, that's very kind of you, Sweet.” Fluttershy said. “I have to focus on my mane right now. I'll be out in a little bit.” With that said, Fluttershy closed the door.

Sweet waited a bit before the bathroom door opened itself up again to reveal a different Pegasus than the one that had went in ten minutes ago. Fluttershy had her mane up in a ponytail and her mane had all sorts of different flowers in it, giving her a very close to nature look.

“Oh, you look so pretty, Mama!” Sweet cheered. “You look better then me.”

“Now, that is not true at all.” Fluttershy said as she removed a purple flower from her mane and weaved it into her daughter's. “There, now you look even more beautiful.”

“Thank you, Mama.” Sweet smiled. “Now we're all ready for the prom in the town square!”

“Sweet, I forgot to give you some bracelets to wear tonight.” Fluttershy said as she grabbed two silver bracelets from a wood carved jewelry box she had. She carefully placed the bracelets on Sweet's front hooves and smiled. “There, the perfect touch.”

“Thanks, Mama.” Sweet said as she looked at the time on a nearby clock. “The prom isn't for another several hours. What do we do until then?”

“I'm gonna go and take care of the chickens and other animals to make sure they have everything they need while we're out tonight. You can do whatever you'd like or you can help me if you want.” Fluttershy smiled as she did love her animals, as her cutie mark represented that.

“I guess I can help you then, Mama.” Sweet smiled as she loved animals too, but she lacked any type of cutie mark, despite being a full grown mare.

After making sure all of the animals were taken care of and had enough food while the two mares were out tonight, they both sat on the couch and were patiently waiting for their dates to arrive. Big Mac was coming a few minutes earlier than Blue Skies in order to help Fluttershy with one last thing before they all headed out.

“I can't wait to go!” Sweet said, both excited and nervous.

“I know, you're very-” Fluttershy started before being interrupted by a knock on the door. “Oh, that's probably Big Mac here now!”

Fluttershy got up from the couch and gently flew over to the door and opened it. Outside of the door stood Big Mac, wearing a tuxedo, top and pants, with a bright blue corsage on his tux. Big Mac smiled at Fluttershy and slowly stepped inside of the cottage. On his back, he carried a small basket of apples.

“Hello there, Fluttershy and to ya to, Sweet. Ya both look lovely tonight.” Big Mac smiled. “What did ya'll need help with before we leave?”

Fluttershy blushed slightly at Big Mac's comment. “I needed some help with some bunnies here. They needed to some more apples before we leave.”

“Of  course.” Big Mac said when there was another knock on the door. “Ya got more company.”

“That must be Blue Skies. I'll get it.” Fluttershy said as she flew towards the door and opened it. “Hello there, Blue Skies. Sweet has been expecting you. Why don't you come on in. I have to take care of something and then we can get going.”

Blue Skies walked into the cottage sporting a white tuxedo, pants and all, with a bright purple corsage on his suit. His wings were tucked to his sides as he walked past Fluttershy and gave her a smile. “You look very pretty tonight, Fluttershy.”

“Thank you so much.” Fluttershy smiled. “I'll leave you to Sweet since that's the reason you come over here in the first place.”

Fluttershy and Big Mac walked out of the living room, leaving Sweet and Blue Skies alone. Skies looked over at his mare-friend and blinked. She really did really beautiful with her mane up in a bun, wearing that light blue dress and wearing those silver bracelets.

“Well...” Sweet spoke nervously. “W-What do you think?”

Blue Skies smiled at his nervous girlfriend. Living with Fluttershy had made Sweet just as shy and she constantly had to seek out reassurance on many things. He walked over to her and sat down next to her. “You look beautiful tonight, Sweet. I sure don't see you with your mane up a lot, that's for sure.” he smiled as he gave her a small kiss on the cheek, making her blush.

Sweet smiled back at him and gave him a hug, something that she did constantly to him. “That's very sweet of you.”

“I'm only telling you the truth.” he said as he looked down at her when he remembered something. “Oops! I forgot to give you this!”

Using his wings, he removed the corsage from his jacket and placed the purple flower in Sweet's hair, right next to the flower that Fluttershy had put in Sweet's hair earlier. “There, another purple flower for a purple mare. Two flowers who make one pony very pretty.”

Sweet blushed again as she nuzzled her head against his jacket. “Thank you for the corsage. That was very kind of you.”

Skies simply smiled in response as Fluttershy and Big Mac returned to the living room. “My bunnies are all taken care of. Shall we get going then?” Fluttershy asked, Sweet noticing a large blue flower in her mother's hair that had been the corsage Big Mac had been wearing.

“Yes, Mama.” Sweet smiled as she unlatched herself from Skies and got onto her hooves as Skies followed her lead.

Blue Skies flew over to the cottage door and opened it wide. “Ladies first.” he smiled as Sweet walked out, along with Fluttershy after her. Big Mac walked to the door and grabbed it, allowing Blue Skies to get out of the cottage and Big Mac gently shut the door behind him.

The four arrived in Ponyville's town square, which had been decorated special just for the prom tonight, Balloons and streamers in rainbow colors decorated the town hall and the area surrounding it and different sweets, provided by Sugarcube Corner, were all laid out in different areas around the square. The square did scream party central, thanks to decorators Pinkie and Discord.

Sweet immediately walked herself over to the nearest sweets table and levitated a bright pink cupcake towards her mouth. The mare loved to eat, though she had to watch what she ate or she would have gotten sick. Blue Skies went right after her, laughing as she devoured the cupcake she grabbed instantly and immediately began to stuff her face with another one. If there was one thing Skies liked about Sweet was how funny she got, even if she herself didn't see it. She always seemed to make him laugh with the little things that she did.

Sweet bit into her second cupcake as she grabbed another one and placed it in front of Blue Skies, her way of asking if he wanted one since her mouth was all ready full. He laughed softly at her as his wing took the cupcake from her magical grasp. He bit into the cupcake and chewed it slowly as he watched his girl simply devour the cupcake she currently had.  

“Welcome fillies and gentle-colts to Ponyville's own prom!” Mayor Mare announced from over the speakers, causing most of the patrons to look in her direction. “I hope you all have a wonderful time tonight and I would like to thank Pinkie and Discord for decorating town square and The Cakes for providing the food for this year's prom. Now, everypony, have a wonderful time and don't forget to dance!”

With that said, mayor Mare left the stage as the town DJ, Vinyl Scratch, immediately walked onto the stage as she dragged her date, Octavia, onto the stage with her. Vinyl used her magic to place down a record onto the DJ station as she began to talk into the microphone.

“Hello everypony in Ponyville! Are we all ready to have a good time tonight?” Vinyl asked as she was met by excited cheers. “I'm gonna start this prom off with one of my favorites to get you all from boring and standing to moving and dancing!”

Out of the speakers came out very swing-like music, causing a majority of the crowd there to grab their dates and start to move their hooves like there was no tomorrow. Blue Skies saw the crowd starting to move and tapped Sweet on the shoulder.

“Would my mare care to dance?” he asked as he held out a hoof.

Sweet finished the last of her cupcake and nodded at him. She placed her hoof into his as Skies began to lead them to the dancing area. The two of them reached the dancing crowd and slowly began to move themselves to the beat of the music.

Vinyl amped up the music louder in order to get the ponies moving even more. The music ripped through the crowd like lightening until it found Blue Skies and Sweet and immediately attacked them, causing them to start to dance more and more. The couple found themselves lost in the swing like music and soon were standing on their hind legs and were dancing like no tomorrow.

Usually Sweet would have been too shy to do something like this, but being with her stallion and the music combined somehow made her forget that they were so many ponies around her. Just the presence of her colt-friend was simply enough for her.

The two soon began to go into their own little dance battle, trying to one each other's moves, as if trying to prove to one another that they were better then everypony else. The music soon came to an end as the young pony couple ended their dance battle by coming together and performing a dip, earning a cheer from a few ponies that had been watching them.

“That's what I want to see out there!” Vinyl cheered. “This prom is now in full swing! Here's another fast paced song for all you dancers out there!”

Another song came from Vinyl's speakers and again the couple were dancing fast, this time with each other and not in a battle. Not too far from the couple was another couple who was dancing their hearts out. It was the newest princess, Twilight, and the spirit of chaos, Discord. The two were moving all over the place, not giving a single care in the world to the other ponies that were around them.

Two hours later, the prom was still in full swing as Sweet and Blue Skies were off to the side, trying to catch their breath from all the dancing they had done. They were sitting next to Lyra and Bon Bon, who were also trying to catch their breaths as well.

“This is a great prom, isn't it?” asked Lyra to Blue Skies. “I can't remember ever dancing so much.”

“It sure is. Vinyl sure got us all moving.” Blue Skies said with a pant.

“I wonder if she's ever gonna play a slow song.” said Bon Bon. “I mean, there has to be at least one slow song at the yearly prom.”

“I'm sure Vinyl will, Bonnie.” Lyra smiled. “It's not like she has hands or something.”

“Mhm.” Bon Bon responded. “I just want one romantic song. They're my favorite.”

“Mine too.” Sweet spoke quietly.

The song that had currently been playing came to an end as Vinyl looked out over the audience. “I think it's time we slow down this dance with a love song. So, grab your date,” Vinyl spoke as she grabbed Octavia and pulled her close next to her. “pull them in close, and embrace them as you dance to the next song that personally describes how I feel about my mare-friend, Octavia and I'm sure many of you all feel the same way.”

A soft melody began to play from the speakers as Vinyl wrapped her hooves around Octavia and began to slowly dance with her on the stage. Out in the crowd, many dates began doing the same thing. Lyra grabbed Bon Bon and embraced her there, slowly beginning to move with her in her hooves. Blue Skies didn't hesitate to grab Sweet into the same embrace.

As Blue Skies stood him and Sweet up on their back hooves, Sweet placed her hooves right under his wings, which gently opened up and placed themselves around Sweet, along with Blue Skies' fore-hooves. Blue Skies began to gently move the two to the beat, just swaying slightly as Sweet followed his lead. Sweet rested her head against Blue Skies' chest and closed her eyes, simply wanting to enjoy being in his presence and dancing with him.

Blue Skies looked down at Sweet and simply smiled at how she was in his hooves. She really did look beautiful tonight and he was so grateful that she loved him as much as he did her. It was amazing that they had only been together for a few months and yet, the two felt like they had been a couple for many years. Blue Skies placed his head on top of Sweet's, minding her horn, and closed his eyes as well, still swaying with her to the soft melody.

The song was ending as Vinyl slowly danced Octavia to the DJ station. As the song came into it's last note, Vinyl gave Octavia a passionate kiss before returning to her music station, leaving Octavia with a smile on her face. “I hoped you all enjoyed the romantic song. Many of us can relate to the old pony tale of Aladdin and want to show our date a whole new world. I can show you all a new world and it's called my music!”

A fast beat song poured from the speakers like before as both Blue Skies and Sweet opened their eyes and looked up at each other. Sweet smiled as she squeezed Blue Skies happily before pulling herself out of his embrace. “This has been a great prom so far.”

“It has and we still have dinner to attend after this with your mother.” reminded Blue Skies.

“And that is the final song of the evening folks!” Vinyl called out. “But that doesn't mean the party is over! I'm hosting a prom after-party at my place! Everypony is invited! The good times can continue!”

Blue Skies and Sweet met up with Fluttershy and Big Mac as Fluttershy gave her daughter a smile. “Did you two have a good time tonight?”

“We did, Mama.” Sweet smiled.

“We don't wanna lose our table now.” Big Mac reminded the group. The four began to walk to one of the nearby restaurants in Ponyville.

They walked inside of the restaurant and saw quite a few couples already there, enjoying a late night dinner. A waiter caught sight of the four and immediately set them up with a table. A waiter came by not too long after that and took their orders right away since they all knew what they were gonna eat before hoof.

“How was your night, Mama?” Sweet asked as she rested her head against Blue Skies' shoulder.

“I had a very nice time. We danced, ate some yummy food, and hanged out with my friends. It's was wonderful.” Fluttershy smiled as she let out a sigh. “I saw you two dancing during that slow song. Very cute.”

Sweet instantly turned red from her mother's comment and instantly tried to hide herself by burying her face into Blue Skies' chest. Fluttershy simply giggled at this as she was the exact same way. Blue Skies laughed a bit as he allowed Sweet to hide herself away into him. He wrapped one hoof around her shoulders and placed the other on the back of her head and gently began to rub the back of it.

“Sold lots of apples too. Eeyup.” Big Mac said proudly.

They all chatted for awhile as Sweet refused to leave Blue Skies' grip until she heard the noise of a plate beginning set down, indicating that their meal had arrived. Sweet pulled herself out of Blue Skies grip and instantly began to basically attack her plate, as it was her favorite dish, grass and hay balls. Blue Skies simply smiled at her while suppressing a laugh.

Dinner was over and the group had arrived back at Fluttershy's cottage. Fluttershy hugged Big Mac good night and thanked him for taking her to the prom. Sweet did the same to Blue Skies as well. As Fluttershy and Big Mac headed back into the cottage, Blue Skies stopped Sweet from going inside, leaving them all alone outside.

“I'm glad you were able to go to prom with me tonight, Sweet.” Blue Skies smiled as he hugged his mare again. “I had a great time with you.”

“I had a good time with you too.” Sweet spoke as she looked up at him. “The best time I've had in a while with you, actually.”

“I'm glad you did.” he said as he kissed her cheek. “Can I have a proper kiss good night before I leave you to head to bed?”

Sweet giggled as a light blush appeared on her cheeks as she leaned herself up and kissed Blue Skies on the lips for a proper kiss good night. “Better?”

“Much better, my Sweet.” Blue Skies said as he released her from his hug. “Good night, my dear. Until tomorrow, when we can meet again.”

“Until tomorrow.” Sweet smiled as Blue Skies opened his wings and hovered sightly in the air before looking back at Sweet once more. “Good night then! See you in the morning!” Sweet waved a hoof at Blue Skies as he flew away into the night. Tonight was a great night. I'm glad I went to prom this year. Sweet thought to herself as she went into her cottage, closing the door behind her.
